Apple online steals tenth place

Apple's was the world's tenth most popular website in January 2006, new research reveals.
Web-watchers at Nielsen NetRatings claimed the site was the tenth most popular by brand, receiving just under 35 million visitors, each of which spent an average of one hour and six minutes on the company's site.
Yahoo, Microsoft, MSN, Google, AOL, eBay, Amazon and MapQuest came in ahead of Apple. Real took the ninth spot in January, with edging out by less than 1.2 million unique visitors.
In November Apple led internet retailers in unique visitors, and in December the company was discovered to be the fastest growing site on the internet among the top brands.
Apple has one of the fastest-growing internet brands, according to January figures from the analysts, with over 14 per cent of the internet population now visiting iTunes regularly.
Apple's iTunes service is being actively used by 14 percent of the Internet population. The service has sky-rocketed in popularity by 241 percent over the past year - rising from 6.1 million unique visitors in December of 2004 to 20.7 million in December of 2005.
